About Oakshot Gundogs

I can’t remember a time when I haven’t been around people with all types of working dogs. I started with terriers, and went on to own a spaniel when I learned to shoot. Gun safety was drilled into me and remains with me now.  I wanted to learn how to train a dog myself, so I read every gundog training book that I could find.

It became clear that modern gundog training has many contradictions and differences of opinion, but a career as a trainer was born out of my love for dogs, the countryside and fieldsports.

I helped at field trials long before I competed in one. Over the years my dogs and I have won working tests and been members in winning team events at Chatsworth, Windsor and Burghly.  I went on to compete in the IGL Championships 3 times (so far) and am an A panel KC retriever judge. I have enjoyed judging and training in the UK  and across Europe.  I moved from Yorkshire to Scotland in 2014.

The British breeding of labradors & spaniels is very much sought after and with this in mind, we now offer the service of the care and training of your pup, that you have purchased in Britain, but who cannot travel until certain health vaccinations, checks and medications have been verified by a Government registered Vet.  Pet Passport issued etc.

We can liaise with pet travel agencies and couriers for a safe transition to his/her new home.

We also offer this service to UK residents who have chosen a pup but are unable to manage the care and welfare because of work commitments or any other time restraints of looking after the demands of a new puppy.

We can take delivery of your pup and keep it in our home.  This means that we do the house training, 4 feeds a day, vet visits. We also video your puppy regularly and communicate about its personality likes and dislikes for your takeover.

Puppy care for overseas Clients.
